Body Image Concerns

Body image dissatisfaction can influence far more than how someone feels about their appearance. It may affect what people wear, where they go, how they eat, how they move, how they connect with others, and how present they feel in their own lives. It is not always tied to weight or size, and it can affect people of all body types. It is also not limited to women; men experience body dissatisfaction as well, though this is often underrecognized.

Treatment does not require starting with body acceptance or positivity. For many people, that can feel unrealistic or out of reach. Instead, our work begins with reducing self-criticism, preoccupation, and avoidance, while building a more flexible and affirming relationship with the body over time. As body image improves, many people begin to feel freer to show up in their lives with less self-judgment and more ease.
